Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Note: This is a plain-language starting draft for Tony to review. It's meant to be clear and honest, not formal legal advice — please have it checked before it's treated as final.

12v.Biz ("we", "us") makes the 12v.Biz Toolbox, software for car audio and mobile electronics shops. This policy explains what we collect on our marketing website (https://www.12v.biz) and in the 12v.Biz Toolbox mobile app, why, and what choices you have.

What we collect

  • Information you send us. When you fill in our contact or free-trial form, we collect your name, email, shop name, phone number, and anything you write in the message fields. Phone numbers on the trial form are used to verify your shop for text messaging.
  • Chat messages. If you use the live chat bubble, we collect what you type and basic details needed to reply.
  • Usage data. Like most websites and apps, we collect anonymous, aggregate information about use — pages or screens viewed, rough location, device and browser type — to understand what's useful and keep things working.

How we use it

  • To reply to you, set up your free trial, and provide support.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the website and the app.
  • To keep our services secure and prevent spam and abuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

The 12v.Biz Toolbox app

The 12v.Biz Toolbox app is a companion to your 12v.Biz account. You sign in with your 12v.Biz business account, and the app shows and works with the data already in that account. Because it's a business tool you log into, the information handled in the app is your shop's own business data.

  • Your business data. The app displays and lets you work with the data in your 12v.Biz account — for example customer names and phone numbers, text-message (SMS) conversations, work orders, scheduling, vehicle photos you take, and customer signatures you capture. We process this data to provide the service; it stays in your 12v.Biz account and is handled under this policy. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.
  • Push notifications. With your permission, the app sends push notifications — for example an alert when a customer texts your shop. To deliver these, we use OneSignal as our push provider. OneSignal processes a device push token / notification subscription identifier and basic delivery and interaction data (such as when a notification is opened), and may collect standard device details (device model, operating system and app version, and an IP address from which it derives approximate country). This is used only to deliver and improve our own notifications — not for advertising and not to track you across other companies' apps or websites. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
  • Camera. If you add a photo to a work order, the app uses your camera or photo library for that purpose only. It does not access your photos otherwise.
  • No third-party ad tracking. The app contains no advertising SDKs and does not track you across other apps or websites for advertising.

Analytics and advertising tools (website)

We use a small number of third-party tools on our website:

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics — a privacy-first, cookieless measurement tool. It does not use cookies or track you across sites and collects no personal information, so it runs on every visit without needing consent.
  • Google Analytics 4 — helps us understand traffic and which pages help shops the most. It uses cookies.
  • Meta (Facebook) pixel — helps us measure and improve our advertising. It uses cookies and shares limited event data with Meta.
  • Crisp — powers the live chat bubble and our help center so you can message us. It stores what you send in chat and basic session information to make the chat work.

Your consent choices

If you visit from Quebec, the European Union / European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, we show a consent banner. Google Analytics 4 and the Meta pixel do not load unless you accept them there — you can decline and still use the site normally. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless and privacy-first, so it runs either way. Elsewhere, these tools may load by default; you can still block cookies in your browser settings.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a site can store in your browser. We use them for the tools above (subject to your consent where required) and to remember basic preferences such as your light or dark theme. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time; some features may work differently if you do. The mobile app does not use advertising cookies.

How your information is shared

We share information only with the service providers that help us run our services and respond to you — for example the analytics and chat tools above, OneSignal (push delivery for the app), and our customer relationship (CRM) system where form submissions are stored. These providers may only use the information to perform services for us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, users, or the security of our services. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

We keep the details you send us, and the data in your 12v.Biz account, for as long as needed to provide the service, meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, and resolve disputes, and then delete or de-identify it when it's no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, subject to those obligations.

Your US & Canada privacy rights

We serve shops across the United States and Canada, and we honor the privacy rights that apply to you regardless of where you live.

  • We do not sell or "share" your personal information (as those terms are used under California's CCPA/CPRA), and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Access, correction, and deletion. You can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to stop contacting you. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
  • Canada (PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25). We collect and use personal information with your consent and only for the purposes described here, and you may request access to or correction of your information.

To exercise any of these rights, email tony@12v.biz and we'll take care of it. We may need to verify your identity first.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to limit access to those who need it to run our services.

Children

Our website and the Toolbox are for businesses and are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above; significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
